TCC#61 - Searching for Ultimate Canucks at the 2008 Open Practice

Standard Podcast [45:53m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

Last Sunday we were fortunate enough to be invited down to GM Place for the Canucks Open Practice.

Record as of this episode: 32-22-8
    Northwest Division: 3rd
    Western Conference: 7th

Aside from covering the usual episode topics, we hung out with and interviewed the guys from the Ultimate Canucks Search, as well as one of the Ultimate Fans, Richard Loat (of Facebook application fame).

JJ got on the microphone to interview passers-by, while we also got the chance to sit down with Kent - the voice behind the We Are All Canuckleheads podcast.

We had a blast, and it was great to have the entire gang together to record one of those rare “face to face” episodes.

TCC#58 - Cardiac Kids on the Corner

Standard Podcast [11:05m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

What would you expect while our team is currently sitting outside a playoff spot? A drunken, raw and rant-filled episode of course!

Record as of this episode: 26-21-6
Northwest Division: 4th
Western Conference: 9th

We go mobile for this quickie episode while our team is on a downward spiral. Dave and John take to the streets and record their thoughts on our recent loses while tossing in some speculation, rumours, and flat out wake up calls to the team and some fans. Just for kicks, Dave even throws in a shout out to the Agridome… and something to do with horses.

We also cover a variety of topics regarding the team in terms of new players, Superskills, ownership of the team, the coming All-Star Game, and other news topics about the NHL.

Record as of this episode: 24-14-4
    Northwest Division: 1st
    Western Conference: 3rd

TCC#48 - Going mobile to meet Canucks alumni and hockey legends

Standard Podcast [10:10m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

John and Rebecca go mobile for this edition of TCC to give you a follow up report after going to customer appreciation day at Standard Building Supplies in North Vancouver. That might not sound overly exciting, but they also had NHL legends and Canucks alumni at the event, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.

Gino Odjick and Dave Babych

These two stood in line for two hours just to get to the table, and they give you their account of what it was like to meet and shake the hands of some incredible hockey players and legends in their own right.

Bobby Baun, Gino Odjick, and Dave Babych

TCC#40 - The puck drops here

Standard Podcast [24:38m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

Miss604 with a picture from the first game of the pre-season Hockey is back! Well, we’re almost there, but the puck is dropping in pre-season action all around the NHL, and September 17, 2007 is when it started for the Canucks.

This episode ended up being a mix of content, mostly due to technical difficulties in the recording process. Everyone gathers online to discuss more of the jersey debate, but this is probably the last we’ll really hammer this topic. Then Dave and John hang out for a brief chit chat before the first game against Anaheim, and Rebecca ends this episode with a report on going to the game.

TCC#39 - Live from the new jersey unveiling at GM Place

Standard Podcast [12:18m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

Rebecca, DaveO, and J.J. snagged some of the free tickets to attend the new jersey unveiling for the Vancouver Canucks. There has been a lot of talk and speculation as to what would appear today, and everyone shares their opinion of what they just witnessed.

Also jammed in the middle is audio from a video that Rebecca shot with her digital camera of the montage that ran just prior to the players skating out onto the ice in the new threads. Apologies for the quality, but you might be able to make it out if you try.

Also chiming in on this episode is John Biehler, a fellow Canucks fan and blogger. He snapped this photo a few weeks before this launch, and it was almost spot on.

Alanah and John chime in from their blogs, and Rebecca has a post up as well as pictures from the event.

TCC#35 - The Crazy Canucks GetConnected interview

Standard Podcast [24:38m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

This is an out of the ordinary episode of the podcast. We completely step away from all things hockey to have the GetConnected radio show interview a couple of our crew from TCC on April 28th, 2007. For the most part, this episode is pretty geeky and laced with a lot of tech related topics. GetConnected wanted to talk to us about podcasting in general, how to get started, and what to think about when you have a podcast.

We’ll be back with our regularly filled episodes in the very near future. Hopefully you enjoy this behind the scenes look at what goes into creating a podcast like The Crazy Canucks.

TCC#32 - Taking Dallas down in the first round

Standard Podcast [24:50m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

It was a nervous first round, but the Canucks pulled it off in game seven to win the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Dallas Stars. Rebecca and John lead off this episode, stepping on their balcony to capture the atmosphere of the downtown celebration going on in Vancouver. After that, Alanah phones J.J. just a few minutes after he left GM Place where he had tickets for this amazing game seven. He has some great reports of the atmosphere from inside and outside of the garage, and hopefully you can make out what he’s saying from all the noise of celebrating fans in the background.

Playoff record as of this recording:
Vancouver 4 (Winner of First Round)
    Dallas 3

    Second Round Opponent: Anaheim Ducks

Dave is unable to make an contribution to this episode, but the Canucks Outsider was streaming live for the entire game with a variety of guests. With the second round coming up, watch for Dave doing more of these live vidcasts as well as getting back into the round table with TCC. We’ll try to link up together soon to give our second round analysis.

TCC#30 - Library Square Pub with CTV

Standard Podcast [36:48m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

CTV in Vancouver contacted TCC about doing a “light feature” about our podcast, especially since this whole city is Canucks crazed with the first round of the playoffs going on. They started out with doing some shots with John “in the studio” and then followed us to a gathering of sorts at Library Square Pub, near GM Place.

Playoff record as of this recording:
    Vancouver 1
    Dallas 1

The package has not aired yet, and we’ll post a link to it if we can. Otherwise, enjoy the mayhem that is The Crazy Canucks. We break down the four OT win in game one, look at the injuries that resulted, who has come up, and get into a little listener feedback. Raw audio from CTV’s interview with Alanah is also included. Even though she couldn’t be apart of the fun at the pub, she (hopefully) still made it into the TV news. And if you found us from the CTV story, welcome!

TCC#27 - Live from the Open Practice

Standard Podcast [54:06m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

The Crazy Canucks in the press box of GM PlaceA special episode of The Crazy Canucks, the whole crew was able to meet up for the Vancouver Canucks Open Practice at GM Place on March 24, 2007. The organization allowed the podcast crew some media access for the event, and it was a treat to have the seats that we did.

Additionally, we have an exclusive story on this one, detailing the story behind Jeff Cowan and the legendary bra on the ice. This was also a true melding of the Canucks Outsider and The Crazy Canucks, with special guest Dan Fun Boy making his appearance for the first time on the podcast.

The Crazy Canucks Outsiders in GM Place press box (photo by DaveO)We also realize that it’s been a while since our last, official episode, but we hope to get things back on track with our official preview to the ensuing playoffs. We’ll break down our opponent for the first round as well as reflect on the season that has been. Stay subscribed and thanks for checking out The Crazy Canucks!
