TCC#77 – Catching us where we can
The bottom line is that we’re all busy people. However, we did the best to gather everyone we could to get this episode out to you, and it’s a good one. Rebecca and John catch J.J. by phone as he gives us details on what it’s like to get his fix on the team while in Jamaica as well as insights as to how the team has been doing in this first round battle against the St. Louis Blues. A short time later, we catch up with DaveO to get his feelings on similar subjects in addition to some other neat things he’s being doing with the Canucks Outsider. Unfortunately, Alanah was unable to join us, but you can bet that she’s been keeping up with the team just as much as all of us.

Hey…thanks for the shoutout…again. It’s good to know you care. Heh.
For the record…I live in Guangzhou; pronounced ‘Gwong-Joe’ In the old days, this place was better known as Canton…hence, the Cantonese.
I gotta give a shout out to the guy that I think has really stood out in these playoffs…the SOB, Shane O’Brien. Many Canucks have stepped up their play in the first 3 games of these playoffs…but SOB seems to have risen to a level of reliability that we hadn’t quite seen consistently in the regular season. My thoughts were…what if that was Lukas Kraichek? Yeah…hard to imagine. SOB brings a level of toughness and defensive smarts the Canucks have not had in the number 5 or 6 defensive spot in a while.
But, then, I still have a soft spot in my heart for Chubby (Kyle Wellwood)…his play on that third line has been incredible. He knows what it takes to win. It was painful to watch him on that defensive (or lack thereof) play on the 2nd STL goal in game 2…but, overall, Chubby has shone like a beacon to Burger King. There is a little Kyle Wellwood in all of us.
Go Canucks.
Err…that should have been game 3 on the Wellwood defensive blunder note…sorry about that.

Hey – I just want to compliment the podcast. Primarily, I am a Devils fan. However, I am also a hockey fan and have closely followed the Canucks for two seasons (I visited Vancouver in 2005 and enjoyed the city immensely).
Despite being three time zones over in New York, I enjoy following up the Devils with the Canucks. The calendar year 2009 Canucks have impressed me – after witnessing their sweep of the Blues a few minutes ago, I would be surprised if they do not make a deep run. Luongo has been lights-out so far; he needs to maintain his play past the first round. I also like the balance/depth upfront and on the blueline (I’ve become a fan of Alex Edler and Ryan Kesler). About the latter: I envy the tempers of Bieksa and O’Brien when clearing Luongo’s crease (Brodeur can use defenders like them after his loss earlier).
I have penciled the Devils and Canucks meeting in the Finals, based on both personal preference and watching both play – for me, arguably the two most similarly built teams this season. Anyways, I’m hoping to hear more episodes as the playoffs progress.
So what happened to the Crazy Canucks during the playoffs? I understand no podcasts during the off-season, but why none during the rest of the playoffs?
