TCC#71 – Stay on the bus
It’s been a while since we’ve done an episode, but we’re doing our best to fill you in on what’s happened since the last one as well as our thoughts about what’s been going on with the Canucks over that time. From Sundin to LaBarbara, there has been a lot to talk about and consider with the current slump the team is in. We do our best to cover as much as we can while staying under an hour. Listen in and see how the crew has been handling this winter of our discontent.

Well, that was a depressing episode!
Nice to have you guys back doing one again, though…
Could it be a coaching issue?
1. Winter Classic. Yankee Stadium…yeah, whatever. Las Vegas Strip…fergit it. Rose Bowl…umm…there is another little game being played in the Rose Bowl on Jan 1, which I think people have forgotten about. But, I like the idea of having it on the west coast…or somewhat in the west coast…Mile High Stadium.
2. The Canucks Slide. C’mon guys, you are totally missing the timing of the slide with the previous major event you discussed; the signing of Mats Sundin. Although JJ points out that it ’should’ be a confidence boost with the team that shows management is serious about having a winner by aquiring the big Swede…it could very well have had the opposite effect on the team, whereas they were doing just fine without him and now he comes in and disturbs everything. I’m with Alanah…there definitely is something going on, that is not seen and is not talked about, that is disturbing the team. It could be Viggy…it could be Sundin…and it could be those puppies I am holding hostage.
3. Fire Viggy? I dunno…I never liked him. Although he has won most of the time, he wins in a boring manner. I prefer a high tempo style and Viggy just isn’t it. I’ll never be happy. Alanah put forth Pat Quinn on her site…but, I still stick with Trevor Linden. I don’t buy the whole ‘experience’ factor when it comes to coaching…so long as you have a great set of assistants, its just your direction that matters as a coach. If a new coach steps aboard, it needs to be something fresh and new…someone that can change the face of hockey with high speed, uptempo skating.
Heading out to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Gong Hei Fat Choi!!
Re: GZ’s comment… I don’t think Sundin vs. the slump was as much of a story a few games ago when this was recorded as it may be now.
As for a new coach, it may well be time but I don’t think Linden’s the guy. He’s too nice to coach all of his old teammates, despite the fact that he’s a consummate professional it would be weird.
I’d have to agree with Alanah’s nomination of Pat Quinn. He’s done a great job with the juniors and will undoubtedly be back in the league next season (unless he’s coaching the Olympic team?)
