TCC#38 - Summer free agency fun in the sun
This episode was recorded on July 12, 2007. The whole gang gathered together on this episode to go over the recent moves by the Canucks on the free agency deadline. We also look around the league and examine what other teams are doing, not to mention who is left that we wouldn’t mind getting our hands on. We talk a little bit about BC Floorball, the 2007-2008 schedule, some listener feedback on U.S. television coverage, and the future home for Nashville.

hi everyone,
Hope your all having a great and restful summer break.
I heare the weather is fine over in Van. and not the terrible flood as here in the Uk.
Episode 38 was just what I needed to beat the close season blues. My thoughts are very much like all of yours. Nonis has been very shrewed and made sensible, safe signings and acquisitions and still kept enough of the cap to paly with should that “Big name” become available and its the right palyer for the job.
I myself had never considered a return for Carter and to be honest Im not convinced it would be a good move. We would a No1 line of carter and the Twins thats for sure. But who would be scoring on the 2nd? No doubts Carter had a great last season with us before he disappeared with a big contract, what would we have to pay him to come back? Too much I think, for what he would give.
As for the schedule, well……Total madness comes to mind, picked by computer?…Fisher Price 1st computer by any chance? 13 Saturday night games is so bad. The view chances I get to see the Nucks live on tv is the Saturday night games on HNIC, which is shown live here on North American Sports Network pay channel. So not many Nucks games for me this year and Im not happy about that.
on the plus side….Bets signed for the Ducks! And guess what? The Ducks are coming to London in Setember and ive got tickets!…Fantastic I get to see my hero in the flesh. So he better be fit and playing! Hopefully get him to sign one of my many Nucks shirts. Seriously, I hope he gets back to his old self and wish him all the best. I think Brian Burke is very smart in signing him. Alot has been talked about there friendship and I hope it all works out for Bert.
Anyway, party hard and have agreat summer. Catch you all soon,
Steve-uk
Me still thinks Carter was a disease in the dressing room…how else can you explain the number of teams he has been with in the course of his career.
But, I would be cautious with the enthusiasm for the next incarnation of the Canucks. There are still a lot of unknowns on the team…and I will have to be convinced by their play on the ice next season if they are good enough. They HAVE to score goals…they won’t get away with it like they did last year…
I’m with Steve on this one…this was a welcome treat upon my return from holiday. Everyday is a good day for hockey.
