TCC#31 - Not too big for our britches

Standard Podcast [30:44m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

Recording on the same night that TCC makes its television debut on CTV, we’re back to keep the ball rolling as the Canucks do the same in the first round of the playoffs. Dave is a scratch for this episode, but be sure to check out his live video event going on this weekend to catch more of his hi-jinks in Canucks coverage.

Playoff record as of this recording:
    Vancouver 3
    Dallas 1

Of course, we talk a little bit about the coverage from CTV as well as how the last few games have gone for the Vancouver boys. Oddly enough, we forgot to talk about the one loss we’ve had thus far, but there are a series of surprises to talk about, namely folks with the name Pyatt, Bullis, and Hannsen. We’re keeping the spirits high and hoping for a game five win to this first round.

    Hi everyone,
Its Steve in the Uk again!
I so wish i was in Vancover right now, from what I hear, from family there, that the city is buzzing. I can hear in your podcasts that you guys are getting more and more excited by it all. It seems to be the same all over. My usual scource of live nucks games is the team 1040, it means being up till 4am to listen live but hey the Nucks sure are worth it. Not so good when I need to be up at 6am for the day job! But you can hear it in Tommy and Shorties voices in the commentry too.
    My take on the games?
Well we have 2 very evenly matched teams. Loungo has been immense, but so has Turco. We have shut down there big hitters, Modano has been shut right out. 2 defining moments? Got to be Lindens game winning goal, and Mitchells goal line save. I think the Stars will look back on these as the moment they knew it would not go there way.
The refereeing has been suspect to say the least.
Vigneault said something very true in his post game interview. Hes right, Luongo has been bounced, hit and shoved with literally no official protection. A definite Stars tactic. As he says, we should start doing the same to Turco. I know who will crack first.
Anyway you guys keep up the excellent work and keep it coming, I cant get enough!
Keep it real, Keep it safe.
    Steve

So, I think the Crazy Canucks should go on location where their fans are located…round the world! First to the UK with Steve…then over here to Guangzhou to party with the Expats!

My boss and everyone else in the office understand that I will not be around in the morning, every other day, until its over. It’s the way it has to be. Game time is usually 9am or 10am here…yesterday was especially bad because it was a 10am start…and I had a 1pm mtg to attend. I had to leave the house by 12:30pm to make it…and regulation was just over at that time. By the time I got to the front door of the office…it was over.

Give it up for the former Portland Winterhawk, Jannik Hansen…what an incredibly bright future the Canucks have with all the great talent they have called up this year (Edler, Reid, Hansen, Bourdon).

Another point to make is how people are suprised by Trevor Linden’s performance in the playoffs. History shows, he consistently brings ‘it’ to the playoffs…he knows what it takes. His play is encouraging and exciting…but not surprising. Now…Jan Bulis…HIS play has been surprising.
