Great episode my Crazy colleagues! Stoked on Canucks.com moving along with our grassroots media content - Dug JJ's rant (nice!) and comparison to Steve Yzerman's transition to a 2-way player at expense of gaudy stats (indeed).

When we meet up at the rink tomorrow for open practice, I'll tell you more about the Wings meeting. I enjoy laughing about their smugness now!

Nice work on the podcasting front.

JJ...I question Viggy's management skills when he calls out a vet player with the press. It is one thing to sit someone...and to call them out in practice in front of their peers...but to call them out in the press just doesn't seem right. That's why I said that Viggy should have lied during the press conference about Nazzy...then the press would have just let it go (Nazzy has been battling a flu bug the past couple days...blah blah).

Call it a difference of style. I'm all for the consistent approach...firm but fair...have fun, but not for the sake of the group or goal. But, when you have noted leaders in your group (now, I am just talking from a perspective of a manager in any line of work), you don't call them out in front of the entire office...you may call them out in a staff meeting, tho. You don't want to lose that persons leadership and partnership in the job you both have to do...because, ultimately your employees success directly relates to your success.

That's where I come from on that. It may have some good immediate impact, but I feel in the longer term, it may hurt the relationship, which will hurt the larger team.
