TCC#24 - All Cowan, all the time
Everyone is able to bring this episode together, and no SeaBus will stop us from having Dave chime in on his commute home. The rest of us gather together in traditional form, discussing the games against Phoenix(W), Minnesota(W), and Tampa Bay(W). The race for the playoffs is still tight, but now we’re fighting for the top of the division, maybe even a long shot to win the conference. It’s really getting to be an amazing season, considering where we started out from.

There’s a variety of topics covered in this one, but this one was done just after the five goals in three games that Jeff Cowan inspired a fan to toss a bra on to the ice in jubilee. If it was theirs or not, and if it was a he or she, we’ll probably never know. Regardless, it was too inspiring to not talk about.

I’m a new listener and just want to say I like it so far, I’ll hit some of the topics on your recent podcast quickly. I really like the nickname for Cowan that’s going around, ‘Cowan the Brabarian’, and seems like it would suit him fine. On the Minnesota rivalry issue, I think Vancouver fans don’t acknowledge it because we like to piss of Wild fans. Do you really think we would accept a rivalry with a team that isn’t (or hasn’t been in recent years) talented enough to play NHL hockey. We don’t want to give those Wild fans the satisfaction that we actually acknowledge them as a good team. Plus, how many Wild fans live in BC, one of the best things about being a fan is the smack talk to Flames fans and the like (especial stinkin Leaf fans). Anyways, with Pepe in Vic I might have a reason to go to a Salmon Kings game.
OK…I see I have some work to do on convincing you all that the stick and rink logo is really lame! I’m out numbered!
I like the simplicity of logo’s, which is why I like the old Johnny Canuck logo…but I don’t like the Giants version (or any of those bad jr league logo’s for that matter) which attempts to make it a 3D sort of thing. Remember the Islanders fish sticks fisherman logo?? yeah. The flat 2D Johnny Canuck is just plain cool.
I’ll settle for the compromise of the Johnny Canuck on the shoulders. I can always take solace in Roberto Luongo pays homage to Johnny on his retro mask.
When I heard the bra thing happen during the broadcast of the game…I just laughed and thought, ‘hmmm…is Tai-Tai at the game?’ When I saw it on JJ’s site…I laughed harder and realized there was no way that Tai-Tai was at the game…way too small.
Hi Rob. Glad you’re listening. I need to check out Pepe too. And can you imagine the smack talk during a Canucks-Flames playoff series? Holy.
Expat — at least it sounds like you’ve given up on the Orca logo. You’ve come a long way!
