TCC#2 - So Let the Season Begin
Finally! The 2006 NHL season has officially started, and we present some thoughts about how the first four games for the Canucks have gone. DaveO was unavailable for this edition, but we covered a lot of ground without him.
Recording took place just after the 2-1 (SO) loss to the Minnesota Wild earlier tonight, so we talked about the game a little since it was fresh on our minds. Additionally, we also cover the issue of being known more as the “Vancouver Luongos”, who else is impressing us this early in the season, and the changes we’ve seen on the bench, namely Vigneault.

Couldn’t listen to the whole broadcast, so sorry if you guys covered this but if you haven’t, maybe you should talk about the coach. Sofar I am not the least bit impressed with the guy. He’s looking for more scoring, we have 2/3 of the most productive line EVER in canuck history still here playing… and yet he has allowed Morrison and Naslund to play together for a grand total of 3 shifts.
Cooke has shown he can fit in well with Morrison and Naslund, as he filled in well when bertuzzi was suspended. The Sedins need someone who has some skill and can put the puck in the net… Bulis was brought in for this… and again played less than a period with the sedins.

Great podcast guys, entertained me on the drive to work this morning. Thanks for providing a different view of things for us on the other side of the world.
I agree that the TSN commentators are exceedingly lacklustre…

My impression from the 2 games I have watched thus far…probably one of the hardest working teams in the NHL. Problem is…a team of 4 checking lines ain’t going to get it done. Where is the pop?
Naslund is a stud…period. He knows what it takes and will do what it takes. Perhaps some of that has rubbed off on Trevor Linden…and visa versa…Linden has looked as though he has a bit of spring in his step again.

Thanks for the comments! Glad to see that people are digging the podcast. We’re still getting everything into a nice grove, but I have been really happy with the way everything has come together. We’re just having a blast!

Please check out everyone else’s projects as well! We all blog and podcast on our own, and it all comes back to the Canucks in some way. This is just where we get together and talk about our favorite team, maybe even picking on each other while we’re at it.

About what Dax said, I agree. There’s a lot to talk about when it comes to Vigneault’s philosophies on offense. I do really like the Sedins/Naslund line (who doesn’t?) but other combinations need to be explored too, or we’re going to be in trouble in the long run.
I just thank God Luongo is keeping it out of the net while we figure it all out.
We have Kesler back on Friday as well as Chouinard. Salo will still be out with a groin injury so Luc Bourdon will be playing again - most likely. The lines are still in an experimental phase and as mentioned on the podcast (I think) the Sedin/Naslund line (with no official fancy nickname yet) will have to learn to play together if they’re going to stay together. The Sedins have become a scoring force but with the help of a crafty middle man (as displayed last season). Can Naslund be that middle man, steal their thunder and use his own or will all 3 just totally rock it in a score-fest. Let’s hope it’s the latter :p (although it sounds dirty)
